Privacy Policy
HOME is a private workspace for one family. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, how long we keep it and how you can get it removed. It covers adults and children, because both use the app.
Version 1.0 · In effect from 9 August 2026 · HOME is operated by Posuna Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 17036115), 25 Boringdon Avenue, Plymouth, England, PL5 1UU.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Posuna Solutions Ltd (company number 17036115, registered in England and Wales at 25 Boringdon Avenue, Plymouth, England, PL5 1UU) is the data controller for HOME. We can be reached at privacy@homefamily.app.
Within your family workspace, the Family Owner decides what information is entered about each member. We provide the tools and safeguards; the Family Owner is responsible for the content they and other adults add.
2. The role of the Family Owner
The person who creates a family in HOME becomes its Family Owner. By creating a family you confirm that you are aged 18 or over and that you are the parent or legal guardian of every child you add, or that you have their parent or guardian's permission.
- The Family Owner gives consent on behalf of each child in the family and can withdraw it at any time by deleting that child's profile.
- Children under 13 do not get their own login. They exist as profiles that parents manage, so no account, password or email is created for them.
- Children aged 13 and over can be invited to their own sign-in using a code or link created by a parent. They only ever see their own tasks, allowance, savings and homework — never the family's finances, debts or reports.
- The Family Owner controls billing, can invite and remove members, can transfer ownership to another parent, and can permanently delete the entire family workspace.
We ask children for the minimum we need to run their side of the app, we do not profile them, we do not show them advertising, and we never sell family data.
3. What we collect
- Account details. Name or display name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash) for anyone with a login. For a child profile without a login, only the name and, if a parent enters it, an age or date of birth.
- Family content. Everything you choose to put in the app: tasks and chores, homework, behaviour notes, allowance and reward entries, savings goals, calendar events, shopping lists, meal plans and recipes.
- Household finance information. Income, expenses, budgets, debt balances and recurring entries that adults record. These are figures you type in — HOME does not connect to your bank, does not read bank transactions, and never holds or moves real money. Allowance balances are a record your family keeps, not a wallet.
- Subscription details. Plan, status, trial and renewal dates, and the identifiers our payment provider gives us. Card numbers are entered directly with the payment provider and never reach our systems.
- Technical and security data. Sign-in events, an audit log of significant actions in your family, error reports and basic request logs, used to keep accounts secure and to fix faults.
4. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To provide the service — creating your workspace, showing tasks, tracking allowance, running reminders. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To take payment for Premium — checkout, renewals, receipts and cancellations. Lawful basis: performance of our contract.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent misuse — sign-in checks, audit logs, abuse investigation. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in a safe service.
- To send service messages — reminders, summaries and important account notices. Lawful basis: performance of our contract, and your preferences, which you can change in notification settings at any time.
- To process a child's information — Lawful basis: performance of the contract with the Family Owner, relying on the parental authority they confirm when adding the child.
- Optional analytics — only where you have accepted them. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Family Insights and AI
Family Insights is a Premium feature that produces written suggestions about your household's tasks and spending. When you open it, summarised figures from your own family — never another family's — are sent to our AI provider to generate that text. It is used to answer your request and is not used to train public models by us. If you would rather not use it, simply do not open the Insights screen; nothing is sent unless you do.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of processors:
- Our cloud database, authentication and hosting providers, who store the app and your family's records on our instructions.
- Our payment provider, which handles card details, checkout and the billing portal as an independent controller for payment purposes.
- Our email delivery provider, for account emails such as confirmation and password resets.
- Our AI provider, only for the Family Insights feature described above.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or another person. Some providers process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to keep your data protected to UK standards.
7. How your family is kept separate and secure
Every record in HOME is tied to a family, and access rules are enforced by the database itself rather than only in the app. A signed-in member can read and write records for their own family and role, and requests for another family's data are refused at the server. Passwords are hashed, traffic is encrypted in transit, and passwords found in known breaches are rejected at sign-up.
Children's accounts are further restricted: a child cannot see household income, expenses, budgets, debts, reports or billing, and cannot manage members or invitations.
8. How long we keep it
- Family content stays for as long as the family workspace exists, so that history and balances remain accurate.
- Deleting a child profile, a member or the whole family removes the associated records from the live service straight away; routine encrypted backups age out within 30 days.
- Billing and tax records are kept for six years, as UK law requires. These contain the transaction, not your family's content.
- Security and audit logs are kept for up to 12 months.
See our Account and Data Deletion Policy for exactly how to remove data.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or transfer it to another service. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. A child's rights are normally exercised by their parent or guardian, but a child can contact us directly and we will help them in language they can understand.
Email privacy@homefamily.app and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
10. Cookies
HOME sets only the cookies and local storage it needs to sign you in and remember your choices. Optional analytics are switched off until you accept them. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change we will update the version and effective date at the top of this page and tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect.
