Account and Data Deletion Policy
You can remove your family's information from HOME yourself, at any time, without asking us. This page explains each option, who can use it and what is actually deleted.
Version 1.0 · In effect from 9 August 2026 · HOME is operated by Posuna Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 17036115), 25 Boringdon Avenue, Plymouth, England, PL5 1UU.
1. Delete a child profile
A parent can remove a child from Settings and family management. This deletes the child's profile, their tasks, homework, allowance history, savings goals and behaviour notes. If that child had their own sign-in, the login is removed too and they can no longer access HOME. Removing a child is also how a Family Owner withdraws the consent they gave for that child's information.
2. Remove another adult, or leave a family
- A parent can remove another member from the family. That person loses access immediately; family records they created stay with the family, because they belong to the household.
- Any member can leave a family themselves. Leaving removes your link to the workspace but keeps your login, so you can join another family or start your own.
- The Family Owner cannot simply leave — they must first transfer ownership to another adult parent, or delete the family.
3. Delete the entire family workspace
The Family Owner can permanently delete the family from the Danger Zone in Settings. This is irreversible and requires typing a confirmation. When it runs, we:
- cancel any active Premium subscription so nothing further is charged;
- delete the family and every record attached to it — tasks, recurring tasks, homework, behaviour notes, allowance history, savings goals, calendar events, shopping lists, meal plans, recipes, income, expenses, budgets, debts, reports data, invitations and notifications;
- delete every child profile in the family, including any child logins; and
- remove the adults' membership and roles.
4. Delete your own login
Deleting your personal account removes your profile and sign-in credentials. If you are a Family Owner, delete the family first, or transfer ownership to another adult so the rest of your household keeps its workspace.
5. Timing, backups and what we must keep
- Deletions take effect in the live service immediately.
- Encrypted backups are kept for disaster recovery and age out within 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from those too. We do not restore deleted content from backups on request.
- Billing and tax records — the amount, date and invoice for a payment — are retained for six years because UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 allows and UK tax law requires it. They do not contain your family's content.
- A minimal record that a deletion happened is kept in our security log so we can evidence it was carried out.
6. Get a copy before you delete
Deletion cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first. The Family Owner can download a complete, machine-readable copy of the family's data at any time from Settings → Export my family data, as JSON or as CSV spreadsheets. If you would prefer us to send it instead, email privacy@homefamily.app before deleting and we will provide it.
7. Ask us to delete on your behalf
If you cannot sign in, or would rather we did it, email privacy@homefamily.app from the address on the account and tell us what you want removed. We will verify that you are entitled to make the request, complete it within one month, and confirm when it is done. A parent or guardian may make a request on behalf of a child. There is no charge.
